eBay MC011 restriction: what it is and how to clear it

What MC011 means

MC011 is an internal message code, not a policy. It accompanies a restriction placed while eBay reviews the account. Your listings are ended, selling is blocked, and payouts are typically held until the review closes. eBay's message will ask for information, documents, or both.

What usually triggers it

• A sudden change in selling pattern. A large jump in listing volume, price, or category relative to your history reads as risk, particularly on a newer account.
• Details that do not match. Business name, address, bank account, or contact details that disagree with each other or with the registered identity.
• A new or dormant account selling high-value items. Little or no selling history against significant exposure for eBay if orders go wrong.
• Payment and payout verification. Bank or identity checks required before eBay will keep disbursing, sometimes triggered by regulatory requirements rather than by anything you did.
• A link to another account. A connected account with problems can pull yours into review.

How to clear it

   Send exactly what was asked for, nothing else

   If eBay asked for proof of identity and proof of address, send those two things. Extra documents slow the review because a human has to reconcile them, and unrequested attachments can raise new questions.

   Match the details on the account precisely

   The name and address on your documents must match what is registered on the account, character for character. A shortened business name, an old address, or a different trading name is the most common reason a document set gets bounced back.

   Use documents that are current and legible

   Utility bills and bank statements are usually expected to be recent, commonly within about 90 days. Send full-page scans or clear photographs with all four corners visible. Cropped images and screenshots of banking apps are frequently rejected.

   For sourcing checks, send supplier invoices

   If eBay questions where stock came from, supply invoices from a verifiable business showing your details and quantities consistent with your listings. Retail receipts and marketplace order confirmations do not carry the same weight.

   Then wait, and do not resubmit

   Sending the same documents repeatedly resets your place in the queue in some workflows and adds noise to the case. Give it several business days before following up once by phone with your case reference.

If the review does not clear

If documents were accepted but the restriction stays, or if the notice converts into a suspension, the situation has moved from verification to policy. At that point the approach changes: you need to identify the underlying pattern and appeal it properly rather than keep sending paperwork.
